MANJU ! not MAN JEWEL
“Man jewels! Man jewels! You made that just for me?” She so excitedly asked.
“Yes, but this Hawaiian dessert recipe is called Manju (pron; mon jew), Man Jewels is something that I would be holding if my hands were deep in my pockets”. I laughingly explained.
Excited, giggling, and bouncing like a teenage girl. This was the reaction of one of my favorite “Coffee Shop Girls”, over the Hawaiian dessert recipe for Manju.
It was a hilarious scene, her behind the counter, all excited and me, at the very back of the line, and all the other customers looking back and forth at her, at me and the package of goodies I held up in my in hands, wondering what kind of Hawaiian dessert could get her this excited.
She looked like a female version of Snoopy, in a moment of pure joy, nose high in the air, spinning around and round, feet pattering away a hundred miles an hour, as she came running up to me. How’s that for a mental image, can you see it?
All the commotion that was created by My Favorite Coffee Girl woke up all those bleary eyed, pre-coffee customers faster than a triple shot of espresso ever could! The whole scene, everything that went on was so hilarious and I swear when I am old, senile and bed ridden, I will still be smiling and even chuckling a bit whenever I relive it in my mind.
