hawaiian-food-chicken-teriyaki-chicken-recipeTeriyaki, teriyaki recipe, teriyaki sauce, teriyaki marinade, beef teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, teriyaki salmon, yakitori, steak teriyaki, it all starts with  very basic ingredients, shoyu, sugar and sake or white wine.

So now that you know that you will never have to buy teriyaki sauce anymore!

From here, with the basic sauce the options are just about endless, as far as adding other flavors goes.  Add ginger, garlic, chili peppers, hot sauces, honey, sesame seeds, sesame seed oil, even peanut butter.  There is a teriyaki sauce for every taste and dinner.

Chicken teriyaki, is best marinated, at least, over night, 2 days is even better.  I know, I know the recipe may say to marinate overnight. BUT two nights and that much more of the flavors is absorbed.  Add a bit of sesame seeds and sesame oil and you are entering the “Can’t Get Enough” zone.  Then add a bit of chili pepper and now you and your guests just entered the “Spicy, Can’t Get Enough, and Can’t Get The Guests Out of Your House” zone.

So go out and have fun with teriyaki, don’t be afraid to play with it, not at all.  Try all the different combinations, surprise yourself with all the different flavors that teriyaki sauce can take on.

So NEVER buy teriyaki sauce ever again.
